Carsten is a passionate commercial lawyer with extensive experience in cross-border commercial transactions. He advises domestic and international clients on German, EU and international distribution, competition (antitrust) and commercial law.

He specialises in developing legally sound distribution structures, drafting and negotiating distribution agreements and helping his clients avoid legal pitfalls when doing business in the EU. Carsten acts for clients from a broad range of sectors including automotive suppliers, pharmaceutical companies and manufacturers of medical products, IT companies, tour operators and fashion companies.

Although Carsten prefers alternative dispute resolution, he’s not shy of litigation if this is in his client’s interests. He specialises in defending principals against termination indemnity claims by commercial agents, distributors, franchisees and licensees. For instance, he successfully defended a global luggage company against a multi-million euro termination indemnity claim by a former licensee.  Carsten has a long track record advising clients on logistics outsourcing agreements with logistics services providers.

Carsten is co-author of Flohr/Wauschkuhn, Vertriebsrecht – Handelsvertreterrecht, Vertragshändlerrecht, Franchiserecht, Kommissionsrecht – Kommentar (Distribution Law – Commercial Agency Law, Distribution Law, Franchise Law, Commission Agency Law – Commentary) (1st ed. 2014).

He has lectured on the drafting of international contracts (FORUM), international supply contracts in the automotive industry (Euroforum), and quality assurance agreements in the international context (Euroforum).
