Emily is a specialist technology and data privacy lawyer. She advises on technology transactions, information and data privacy law, intellectual property and dual-use export control regulations.
Her IT/technology transactional experience includes advising on complex high-value IT procurements, long-term IT outsourcing projects and systems integration contracts. She has advised customers and suppliers on cloud services, bespoke software development, website design, maintenance and hosting across all of OC’s chosen sectors. In the data centre sector, she brings together her expertise in IT, data security issues and outsourcing projects and works with the real estate team to negotiate arrangements and deliver strategic advice to clients who are using or providing data centre services.
Working with the payments team, she advises on the complex data privacy issues, as well as the IT, security and IP aspects of the technology solutions that enable mobile and contactless payments. She was part of the team that advised Everything Everywhere on the QuickTap contactless mobile payment product for which we won The Lawyer’s TMT Law Firm of the Year Award 2012 for our work.
Emily advises a range of clients on privacy issues and audits, including cross-border transfers of data, privacy policies, data retention and security issues. She also assists companies, particularly those headquartered in the US, with their EMEA data protection issues, including the implementation of Europe-wide privacy policies and the impact of cross-border data collection.
