It seems as if everything is becoming ‘smart’ – from home entertainment, lighting and central heating systems to smart fridges that keep track of your food stocks.
The latest innovation is a smart bicycle equipped with Amazon Alexa, TechRadar reports.
Known as Cybic Legend, it’s set to be the world’s first bike that includes Amazon’s voice assistant, allowing the rider to interact with their bike without being distracted when they should be focusing on the road ahead.
The Cybic Legend – and a planned electric bike called the Cybic E-Legend – will come with Wi-Fi and a Vodafone SIM for connectivity, together with GPS, a performance tracker, customisable LED lights, a music player and a smart security lock and alarm.
Using their voice, riders will be able to request traffic updates, turn-by-turn navigation and weather forecasts, turn on their lights, and even order a takeaway.
“Adding Alexa functionality expands the notion of ‘Alexa On The Go’, where Alexa is available anywhere where the bike is,” commented David Kumar, principal product manager at Alexa Voice Services. “The combination of Alexa and Cybic enables riders to enjoy a great range of innovative, integrated bike features without their hands ever having to leave the safety of the handlebars.”
The Cybic Legend and E-Legend are on show at CES 2019 in Las Vegas this week and will be available to customers in the UK and Ireland exclusively at Halfords from this summer. Buyers will get three years of Vodafone 3G data included to make use of the smart features.
